WHAT CAN POETS DO?

“I dwell in Possibility--/a fairer House than Prose--/...” wrote Emily Dickinson in 1862.  In 2014 we are a challenged people clinging to a threatened planet. What Dickinson evokes so well is the power of the poet to envision, to create a realm beyond the day at hand into which we might travel. All forms of artistic expression are our great—and perhaps only—hope, as we circle our modest sun on a small orb we call home, so full of beauty and cruelty it makes the head spin. What can poets do? Dickinson again: “Tell all the Truth but tell it slant—/..”

Please show faith in me by checking in every few weeks or so to see what I may have posted. Poems not previously published in any form are up on the My Poems page on this site now. I appreciate any and all comments. I may be reached on Facebook and at fireflypoet@sage-thyme.com.

Also, please consider purchasing one or more of my books, and/or books by the inmates I have the privilege of working with. Just go to the My Books Page.
